Prince Edward Island invites 122 Immigration Candidates to apply for provincial nomination in September 19 draw
Express Entry candidates among those who received invitations
Prince Edward Island (PEI) invited immigration candidates in its Express Entry, Labour Impact and Business Impact categories to apply to the province’s nominee program in a draw held on September 19.
A total of 122 invitations were issued in the latest PEI draw, which brings the total number of invitations issued by the Prince Edward Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) to candidates in both the Express Entry and Labour Market Impact categories since the start of 2019 to 1,031.
Of the total 122 invitations, 109 invitations went to the candidates under PEI PNP’s Express Entry and Labour Impact categories. However, The PEI PNP did not specify the number of invitations issued under each of these categories, nor did it provide the minimum score required to receive an invitation in the September 19 draw.
Remaining 19 invitations issued to candidates under PEI PNP’s Business Impact: Work Permit Stream.
PEI PNP’s Express Entry Category is for candidates with a profile in the federal Express Entry system, which manages the pool of candidates for Canada’s three Federal High Skilled economic-class immigration categories – the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class.
In order to be considered for a nomination from the province, Express Entry candidates need to first register a separate Expression of Interest (EOI) with the PEI PNP.
Candidates are issued a score out of 100 based on the information provided in their EOI such as education, work experience and proficiency in English or French, among other factors.
The highest-ranked candidates are then invited to apply for a provincial nomination through regular draws.
Although a job offer in PEI is not required to be eligible, the PEI PNP generally gives priority to candidates who are currently living and working in the province.
Express Entry candidates, who get an invitation to apply for provincial nomination by the PEI PNP, receive additional 600 points toward their CRS score, which effectively increase their chances to get an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
PEI PNP’s Labour Impact Category is not linked with the Express Entry system. Candidates in this category may fall under three possible streams: Skilled Worker (in PEI and outside Canada), Critical Worker and International Graduate.
In order to be eligible under these streams, candidates need to be working in PEI or have an eligible full-time, long-term job offer from an eligible employer of the province.
Business Impact: Work Permit Stream
PEI PNP’s Business Impact: Work Permit Stream is for individuals interested in owning and operating a business on the province. This stream also operates on a points-based EOI system. Candidates who receive invitation to apply to the PEI PNP and whose application is approved get a temporary work permit to establish their business in the province.
Of the 19 Business Impact: Work Permit Stream candidates invited, the lowest-ranked candidate had a score of 115.
The PEI PNP’s next EOI draw is scheduled to take place on October 17, 2019.
