Manitoba issued 360 invitations to skilled workers and international graduates in August 15 draw

Express Entry candidates among those who received invitations

The Canadian province of Manitoba published the details of its latest Expression of Interest (EOI) draw that took place on August 15.

A total of 360  Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence were issued by the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) to candidates in the Skilled Workers in Manitoba, Skilled Workers Overseas and International Education streams.

Invitations issued in the August 15 draw broke down as follows:

  • Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 241 LAAs | Minimum score: 542
  • Skilled Workers Overseas: 83 LAAs | Minimum score: 685
  •  International Education Stream: 36  LAAs issued

Of the 360 LAAs issued in this draw, 32 went to candidates who declared a valid Express Entry ID and job seeker validation code.

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP)

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) is one of the most popular of Canada’s Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), which allows the province to nominate eligible foreign nationals for Canadian permanent residence.

Last year the MPNP issued a record 5,207 nominations for Canadian permanent residence, 65 per cent of which went to candidates in the Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream and 33 per cent went to Skilled Workers Overseas candidates.

The Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream is open to qualified temporary foreign workers and international student graduates who are currently working in the province and have been offered a permanent, full-time job with their Manitoba employer.

The Skilled Workers Overseas Stream allows the MPNP to nominate eligible immigration candidates living outside Canada who have an established connection to Manitoba such as the previous education or work experience in the province, support of family members or friends or an invitation under one of the MPNP’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives.

The International Education Stream is dedicated to providing faster pathways to nomination international students graduating in Manitoba who fit the province’s labour market needs. There are three subcategories in this stream: Career Employment Pathway, Graduate Internship Pathway, and the Student Entrepreneur Pathway.

Expression of Interest

In order to be considered for a nomination for Canadian permanent residence from Manitoba, completing an Expression of Interest (EOI) is the first and necessary step for most skilled worker candidates.

EOIs are given a score based on various factors such as education, work experience, proficiency in English or French and connections to Manitoba, among other details.

The highest-ranked candidates are then invited to apply through regular draws from Manitoba’s EOI pool.
