Canada invites 3,600 Express Entry Candidates to apply for permanent residence in September 4 draw

Express Entry Draw #125:   4 ,September, 2019

The minimum CRS score increases to 463

The September 4th Express Entry draw for immigration to Canada has resulted in 3,600 candidates being issued an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Permanent Residence.

The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score drawn in this invitation round was 463 – an increase of six points over the previous draw that took place on August 20.

The Express Entry is a selection system for Canadian immigration, designed to select skilled workers for immigration to Canada. It is a complete electronic process that manages applications for permanent residence under these federal economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class.

Eligible candidates submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) by creating a profile in Express Entry portal summarizing their skills and credentials including Age, Education, Language, Work Experience, among other factors.

A set number of highest-ranked candidates are then invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular draws from the pool.

The September 4th Express Entry draw brings the total number of ITAs issued so far this year by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to 59,800 and puts the current year 5,100 ITAs ahead of IRCC’s 2018 pace.

IRCC applied a tie break in the September 4 draw. The time stamp used was August 23, 2019, at 13:33:34 UTC.  It means that all candidates with a CRS score of and above 463, who entered their profile in the Express Entry pool before this date and time, received an ITA.

The time elapsed between two draws is a crucial variable that influences the cut-off CRS score. An elongated period between the draw allows the Express Entry pool more time to replenish with higher-scoring candidates, which can have the effect of raising the minimum CRS score.
