Alberta invited 401 Express Entry Candidates with CRS Scores as Low as 300 in its last two selection rounds

The Canadian Province of Alberta has invited a total of 401 candidates belonging to Express Entry System to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence in its last two selection rounds held on October 24 and October 30.

The October 24 selection round invited 372 Express Entry candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores as low as 300. Another draw held on October 30 issued 29 invitations to candidates with a minimum CRS score of 350.

The Alberta Express Entry Stream, which is managed by the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP), allows the province to search for the capable candidates registered under federal Express Entry program, who meet the specified eligibility requirements and then invite them to apply for provincial nomination.

In order to be considered for a provincial nomination through the Alberta Express Entry Stream, Express Entry candidates must have a minimum CRS score of 300 and be working in an occupation that “supports province’s economic development and diversification priorities,” among other criteria.

While a job offer or previous work in Alberta is not mandatory in order to be eligible, the AINP gives priority to candidates with:

  • a job offer and/or work experience in Alberta;
  • a degree from a Canadian post-secondary institution; and/or
  • a parent, child or sibling already living in the province

Each one of Canadian provinces, participating in the PNP program, has at least one ‘enhanced’ nomination stream that targets immigration candidates in the Federal Express Entry pool who match the province criteria.

Alberta, like 9 other provinces, selects certain number of candidates for Canadian permanent residence each year through its popular PNP – Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP).

Express Entry candidates selected by the AINP get an additional 600 points toward their CRS score, and are effectively guaranteed an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in a subsequent Express Entry draw.
